Six lasers - Thrull Lava Pits - Space
Crazy Galvatron? Yeah that's our bad.
Behold! The hellish lava pits of Thrull. A planet still in its initial stages of forming, Thrull's landscape is a churning mess of lava and molten rock. Volcanoes dot the landscape, spewing ash and smoke into the atmosphere. The central landing area has been made civilized via an outpost protected with a forcefield. The nearby area, consisting of lava pits, is conditioned to be safe to breathe.
Known galaxy-wide for their psychological "benefits", the lava pits range in size from ocean to "convenient hot tub shape". In fact, there are only a few places on Thrull that are not covered in lava. In the northern hemisphere stretches the largest of these "plains", hosting a modestly-sized Spaceport, and the newly-constructed Six Lasers (tm) Olympic Omni-Arena 5000.
More adventuresome tourists & gladiators can venture out beyond the safe areas to the magma rivers.

The Thrull Lava Pits? That's a strange place for a Sharpshooting Competetion. Then again, Backfire is a strange dude.
Speaking of the host of this event, he's currently standing on a large lava-barge in proper attire. Proper attire being a spray-painted on tuxedo with matching tophat, which is really just a giant Transformer sized empty can painted black. In fact, the inner ring that's sharp as hell is still attached to the backside. A large sign behind the Seeker reads: 2034 SHARPSHOOTING EVENT in bright near blinding neon lights that pulsate annoyingly. Somewhere beyond the fourth wall, a viewer is succumbing to an epileptic seizure.
"Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetings one and all to this years Sharpshooting event!" Backfire speaks into the microphone, the system crackles over the area all distorted like. Breaking the mic from the stand, Backfire begins to saunter the length of the barge and address the shore. "Do you have what it takes to face Backfire's patented challenges of aiming prowess? Does your trigger finger quiver with the sheer fact that today, you face the best of the BEST? Do you have the sterner stuff to uhh.." he trails, grabbing from one of his large index cards with his speech written on it. "Shoot things? If so, please step forward to the starting area!" he points.
On the shore of the lava river, transformer sized circular silver podiums rest.. kinda like the Hunger Games waiting area, except this isn't a teenage romance novel.. and there is no cornucopia chock full of weapons for them to use.

There happens to be a really small cornucopia off to the side with tiny pea-shooter pistols with the 2034 Olympic Games logo stamped into the grip and a price tag of seventeen credits, a small gumbie sitting in a lawnchair collects the monies.
Americon undergoes a patriotic transformation into his All-American robot mode!
Lamborghini Gallardo <Contrail> rolls up to the sharpshooting event, drinking an energon cube. It's just sort of sitting there on her hood. Whenever the scene cuts away from her and then returns, the energon cube has less in it than it did before.
It's all Carjack's fault, but her car mode has the best accuracy of any of her modes.
She drives over to the circular silver podium and turns on her air conditioning. Ah, AC...
Outrun is throwing small rocks into the laval pit in front of him trying to make them bounce as many times as he can. "Primus! What takes so long? I really wonder who's in charge of that event this year..." He looks over his shoulder as Backfire starts his speech, "Oh...this explains everything..." He glances at the cornucopia, "I'll use my own pistol thanks..."
Talia McKinley glances in the direction of the cornucopia as she takes her spot, and snorts softly. "Those sawed off BB guns wouldn't put a mark in nuttin'." She reachs back casually to unsling the futuristic rifle from her back and lower it into her other hand to grip the bottom of the barrel and cock it back like the pump action on an old fashioned shotgun. It starts to hum faintly as it powers up, and then she lifts it to rest against her shoulder, waiting. The other hand goes to thumb up the brow of her stetson a bit, letting as few stray bangs drift across her brow. Not really surprised to see herself the only human competing in the event.
A lava pit does seem very strange for a sharpshooting event, but Hound isn't going to question it /too/ much...unless one of the Decepticons at the event decides they want to throw someone in. /Then/ he'll have a real problem with it. In any case, he is currently standing near the podiums, checking his turret rifle over to make sure it's in tiptop shape. Of course it is, but you never know. "I'd love to support their business, but I have to agree. Those guns look very...cheap." Hound agrees with Talia and Outrun.
Americon steps up to the cornucopia, picking up a pea shooter. He glowers at it disapprovingly, then drops it on the ground. "BAH! This is no gun for an AMERICAN!" he cries, stepping on it. And of course, the pea shooter goes off, discharging every bullet in it. PAK PAK PAK! "AH EEE OOH AAH!" Americon screams, dancing about as little bullets zip about his legs. Eventually he remembers he can fly, and does so towards a podium, scratching behind his head. "Geeze! I guess I need to catch up on my gun safety.. IN AMERICA!"
First the FFA and now the Sharpshooting event. Skydive is certainly active this year. But that doesn't mean he has to be terribly social, of course. Reading as always the mech has his face stuck in a book on ballistic trajectories.. even though he's using a laser weapon for the event. Ah, well. At the start of the event he finally looks up from his literature, spots Backfire, and just sighs with a shake of the head. "How am I not surprised he'd host this again this year?"
Book is snapped shut and subspaced, a pistol replacing it as he steps up to the line of others. He isn't too thrilled to see Cons here, but gives them a nod as well as the Bots all the same. "Good luck to you all." One Con gets a raised brow however, namely Contrail. Car mode? How odd. "Hm, anyway, I hope he isn't going to use turbo-kittens like last year. Rather gruesome."
Hubcap smiles to himself as Backfire opens the event. He makes his way through the crowd to one of the podia. "You gonna be a target this year?" He calls out to the 'Con.
Blast Off stands, ready to show millions (billions? zillions?) of viewers just HOW amazing he is. The Combaticon's sharpshooting sniper has no doubt he will win a medal, probably gold. (Blast Off? Egotistical? ... Ehhh, could be.) He nods to Contrail and Americon. He completely ignores Backfire and hopes to do so the entire event. He surveys all the others with disdain. Skydive gets a long, disapproving glance, since he generally dislikes aerialbots. So does Jetfire...actually, he just dislikes the lot of them. What he sure DOESN'T want is an Autobot or organic to win the Gold.... This is Blast Off's specialty, and winning is a matter of pride. I mean, even MORE than usual. Blast Off gets his ionic blaster out. Of course, it's already been cleaned, sighted in and is ready to go- just like he is.

"HEY, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THOSE ARE CRAFTED BY THE FINEST HANDS IOU'S CAN BUY!" Backfire defends the little pea-shooters no one has purchased. Shrugging his shoulders, the small gumbie packs up the cornucopia and gets on the barge with Backfire. "Sorry boss, they no like." he offers, a sullen look on his small midget mini-con face.
"Of course they didn't like them, Bantam, they obviously have TERRIBLE taste!" the Seeker host berates his small assistant, adding injury to insult in the form of a backhand across the face. Turning his attention to the contestants, Backfire hits a switch on the console in front of him. Suddenly, the small circular disks they are all standing on deattach from the land and float into the lava-river!! "Aha, the first surprise in this event.. you'll be shooting from these small platforms while floating on a RIVER OF FIERY FIRE!!" Backfire shouts, the barge floats away from the mainland and accompanies the contestants down the river of lava.
"The second surprise? your first targets!" he hollers again into the mic, breaking up static all the while. From the back of the barge, a slew of purple winged beasts are released.. they kinda look like Lockheed from Marvel Comics. Except they all have magenta loin cloths covering their small bat-like no-no parts. "Have fun dispatching the Shrikebats of Dromedon!"
Jetfire sighs and shakes his head as he watches Backfire's ridiculously tawdry display on the barge. Would this event -really- be worth enduring his idiotic antics? Hopefully.
The scientist sizes up the competition...Hm, given his knowledge of the others present, first place is likely to fall between himself, Blast Off, or Skydive.
Hound quickly jumps up onto his platform as it starts to move, taking a moment to find his balance. Yeesh, he almost (probably) disqualified himself there. "Well, I can't say this is a surprise," he says, checking his gun one last time before the shrikebats appear. "But those sure are!" He has to give Backfire credit, though. At least this will be a challenge. Taking time to line up his sights on each one in turn, he squeezes off ten shots, doing his best to compensate for both the movement of his platform and the flight patterns of the shrikebats themselves.

"Looks like we have a natural here!" Backfire shouts into the microphone as ten shrikebats are shotten up and writhe in the lava as they burn up to a crisp. "Babe Off, let's see if you can't do better!"
Blast Off sighs, shaking his head as they are launched into a river of lava. "Such poor taste... an event such as this should focus on the skills of the shooters, not rely on "cheap, sensationalist thrills" like floating in a river of lava...." He doesn't seem too concerned, though, confident of his reflexes and flying abilities. The targets get an indifferent shrug, though again he seems to find this all in such bad taste...*sniff*.
Hound steps up and starts to shoot. The Combaticon goes from complete indifference to... how is an Autobot doing that well? He sniffs again, then steps up for his turn. Backfire's comment causes him to bristle. "You've been hanging around Blitzwing too much, I see...." He considers trying to shoot Backfire, but he'd be disqualified... not worth it... well, not YET at least. He prepares to shoot.

Hubcap looks down with interest as his podium floats, following the barge down, uh, flow? "Huhn, well, makes a change from the average shooting range." He watches Hound fire, then Blast Off. Hmm. Tough competition this year. Raising his blaster, he aims, and fires
"Why wouldn't I? He's my partner afterall." Backfire addresses Blast Off, making note of his score. "Look at that, another perfect score!" he exclaims, readding his figures again to make certain. "Maybe they just really hate these shrikebats? Are you guys illegally inversing polarities???"
"Hubcap, show us how much you SUCK!"

Lamborghini Gallardo <Contrail> has no pity for adorable targets. Panels slide open on either side of her, and her machineguns pops out, swivel, and track the targets with a whine. Then he takes her shots, calmly and deliberately. Her AC is working overtime to keep her insides nice and cool.
"Not enough suckage." Backfire laments, making notes on his scorecard. "You guys are just too good!" he nervously heckles, "Contrail is up next!"

"Or these are just terrible targets." Backfire adds, looking at Bantam with a wicked look of loathing. "Where did you get these creatures from?" The midget assistant stares at his feet. "Another perfect score, Outrun.. miss something and surprise us!"
Outrun looks pretty relaxed as he takes position and gets ready to fire. He doesn't really care how well he does as long as he beats that snobbish seeker...what's his name? Blow Off or something. He casually raises his pistol and tries to take a good aim while still looking cool and relaxed... it's probably not a big success but the previous contestant set the bar pretty high. A moment later, he pulls the trigger.

"Seriously, this rounds sucks." Backfire throws down his scorecard and stomps on it for good measure. "Air Raid is up next, though he might need to be tested for illegal performance drugs.. those wheels look a lot bigger than normal."
Skydive eyes Blast Off and Jetfire in particular right back, though instead of give an nasty glares he instead offers a cool, confident little smirk. Nothing smug or the like, though, since that isn't his style. With no hand holds on the platforms Skydive is forced to just square his stance when they begin to move, only easing up when it hovers in place over the lava. Thankfully there's a qeue before him, though, so it gives the mech enough time to check his sights and prepare. "Hmph, shrikebats. Nasty little things always getting in the way or ending up sucked into engines." So of course he has no qualms with leveling his gun on the little pests while falling silent, concentrating as he trains on the flying swarm and fires off one them.

"SERIOUSLY???" Backfire is taken aback again as the contestants continue to tear through the shrikebats of round one. "Air Raid adds to the list of perfects, Bantam.. check him for robo-roids." the Seeker orders, glancing at the list.
"Americon, keep up the streak.. for the EMPIRE!"
"OH NO!" Americon cries as the little platforms detach and float into the lava. "Backfire, you lunatic, we'll all be incinerated!" He falls to his knees, thrusting his fists to the heavens dramatically. "INCINERATED!" He waits to be incinerated, but it doesn't happen. After a few awkward minutes, Americon stands, shrugs, and starts shooting shrikebats in the face. He doesn't think they're cute at all. They're horrifying monsters, and most importantly, "YOU'RE NOT AMERICAN!"

The shrikebats are completely demolished under Americon's dizzying display of patriotic firepower. Slow golf clapping, Backfire smiles wide and waves Talia up. "The human thing is up now, but wasn't that a great show Americon just put on???"
Talia McKinley shifts her stands a little almost naturally as the disc starts to move. As a former Coast Guard officer she's use to having to aim atop a bobbing ship deck so the movement won't throw her focus too much (hopefully). With a grunt she cradles the stock of the rifle in the crook of her arm, holographic reticle flicking to life over one eye as the rifle's smartgun hardware kicks in. "Just like a skeet shoot with live targets." Ten targets are marked in her sights, followed by ten retorts from the rifle as it fires it's magnetic shots at the Shrikebats.

"Wow, the human thing did it too. Bantam, get me another bottle of ener-booze!" Backfire hollers at the mini-con, reading from the list. "Last and certainly least, Jetfire.. that traitorous scumbucket stupid face."
Bantam quickly comes back, empty handed. "No more drink sir, think purple bats drink it all."
Standing on a moving disc on a lake of lava doesn't faze Jetfire too much. Well, he can fly, obviously. And the movement shouldn't throw off his targetting algorithms too much, after all they are adjusted to space combat. And then Backfire calls him a traitor and stupid. Traitor he doesn't mind much, he knows he betrayed the Decepticons so screw them, but stupid? Hah. "Stupid compared to whom, Backfire?" he asks, raising his particle beam weapon. The scientist is tempted to shoot Backfire instead of the targets, but that would cause some...trouble so he levels it at the shrikebats. "Only a true fool fails to recognize his own shortcomings."

Returning a minute later, Backfire opens a cage and releases some winged metal owls. "I forgive you, my dimunitive friend." Backfire lies. He never forgives, only forgets. The metal owls, who are totally not like the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans, carry helmets to each of the participants on the lava-river. "The next portion of the event, you'll be BLIND!" the Seeker laughs maniacally, coughing a bit towards the end of his evil chuckle.
Shot from the front of the craft, a huge golden ball hovers into the area.. approaching Hound first. "BEFORE THIS CONTEST WAS, I WAS." the Vector Sigma replica emits, shining all goldenly and stuffs. "HOUND, HOW COULD YOU BETRAY CYBERTRON FOR YOUR LOVE OF EARTH?"
"Hahahaha, sassy little thing.. isn't it?" Backfire cackles, Bantam hitting a gong behind him. "Round two.. BEGIN!"

Hound got a perfect score! Unfortunately, so did all of the other contestants, and that means he'll just have to try even harder this round. Okay, Backfire is releasing metal owls, so he guesses those are the targets...except one of them drops a helmet onto his head, covering his eyes. Then the /real/ target appears, and...is that /Vector Sigma/? No, wait, it can't possibly be Vector Sigma, not here of all places. Can it?
"I love both my homes, Vector Sigma," Hound answers the replica, trying to track it by the sound of its voice. He's taking a wild guess here, and he really hopes he's right. One trigger pull after another, the sounds of ten rifle shots ringing out. "Both the old...and the new!"

Blast Off is pleased with his performance, but it appears everyone else did well too. But the targets will only get harder, and the Combaticon is confident he'll be ready. He claps briefly and courteously for the other Decepticons. Skydive's smile gets just another cool gaze... He is categorically prejuced against Skydive's team, though at least this Aerialbot appears to have some manners, unlike say... Air Raid. Outrun seems to also be looking back at the Combaticon (who is not a seeker, by the way... he'd be quite insulted to be called such, too. Seekers (especially orange ones) are soooo inferior to space shuttles, after all.)
Blast Off looks back at Skydive. "Not bad... but watch a master at work, Aerialbuffoon." He steps ups to shoot the next target. Which is... "Vector Sigma"? He rolls his optics... which are now obscured by a helmet. What kind of circus is this, anyway? The shuttleformer scoffs and tries to find inner peace (not likely), ala Star Wars... barring that, his audio receptors, internal scanners, and finely-honed shooting instincts will have to do.

Not like it bothers him too much, especially with the comment on his bigger wheels, as one of the pains of being an Aerialbot is being mistaken for the others. Seriously, they're not that hard to tell apart! But either wya he focuses on the other contestants, hands behind his back casually and nodding faintly when everyone lands their hits. Not bad. But it'll only get harder from here.
What's this? Blind? Well then, that's certainly harder.
"Not bad." He retorts to Blast Off. "I daresay it'll be a close match if you keep up with that sort of skill." ..Wait, did he just compliment Blast Off? Unsure, but Skydive accepts the helmet and slips it on when his turn arrives, making sure to study the fake Vector Sigma's movements beforehand. "I'm most certainly not." He replies to the Vector Sigma copy, taking his pistol off his hip once helmet is in place and firing off where he believes the ball will move next based on the theories he's running through his head.

Suddenly, the small platforms beneath the three losers (Hound, Americon, and Jetfire) sink into the lava and deposit their contestants into them as well. "Hahahahahahahaha, you got lava'd!" the Seeker laughs, hitting another button.
Up from the front of the craft comes out a shiny silver ball of liquid metal. In front of Blast Off it hovers, taking the shape of him. "You wouldn't shoot a fine specimen such as myself.. would you?" fake mirror Blast Off pleads, begging on his knees.
"BEGIN!"
Sharpshooting Target (Level 3) transforms into its Sharpshooting Target (Level 5) mode.
"AGGGH I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE!" Americon cries before he sinks into the lava. "Orbglorbglorbglorb..."
"But doesn't bird guy fly?" Bantam asks Backfire.
Wiping away a patriotic tear, "Only in America." the Seeker replies.
Blast Off blinks at "Vector's Sigma"'s criticism. Just because he knows he's better than everyone else ...what's so snobbish about that? *sniff* "I am merely proud of my skills, that is all... And shouldn't you be proud of your creation, too? ...(Cheap knockoff of the real thing that you are)...." He removes the helmet, satisfied with the results. He deigns to glance at Backfire as the Seeker cheers him on. But... that's almost TOO generous of him. Skydive gets a soft huff as a reply, but the shuttleformer tilts his head in mild interest as the aerialbot strikes his targets too. "Perhaps a showdown, then? Combaticon versus Aerialbot? I'd enjoy that..." Of course, he's thinking how much he'd like to see the disappointed look on Skydive's face when he beats him. Plus, demonstrating Combaticon superiority over Aerialbots is always a good thing.
Blast Off prepares for the next round... but it's a little hard when he is suddenly confronted with a replica of himelf. He blinks, then glares at Backfire. "I wouldn't BEG like that!..." He huffs. Looking back to "himself", he shakes his head. "Indeed, it is a shame. But there can be only ONE me. Could the world handle the perfection of TWO of me?" He hehs and shoots without any more hesistation.
Hound tears the helmet off of his head, looking around. Oh, it looks like...he failed this round, despite his high score. And then the platform starts sinking into the lava. "Hey, wait, what the slag-" he gets out before he sinks in over his head.

Whirling up to Skydive, the metallic sphere takes his shape. Closing the fake silver book in front of him, the mirror Skydive bows before real Skydive. "What say you, esteemed fellow nerd who is totally not Air Raid? Shooting yourself just seems so.. pedestrian."
Another perfect round. Skydive is feeling confident, but it seems only three contestants have went into to the drink which still leaves plenty to try and beat. Skydive removes his helmet afterwards and tosses it to shore, smirking a bit wider to Blast Off. "Sounds delightful. A gentlemech's bet, then?" Meaning nothing is wagered and the winner recieves nothing but respect. The next round may make winning a bit tricky though with the liquid silver clone, whom the Combaticon actually misses once.
"Ah, better luck next time." He chuckles warmly and looks to his clone when it moves to him next. It actually puts him off a little, regarding himself with a flat, slightly annoyed look while looking at it down the barrel of his gun now. "..Do I really sound that snobbish?"

Blast Off misses one shot and his vents intake sharply. He watches as the others shoot, nodding with approval as Contrail does an excellent job. Skydive gets a return smirk (well, an inward smirk, since his faceplate kind of negates the whole "smirk" thing...). "With pleasure." He watches intently as Skydive shoots -and performs exactly as the Combaticon did, missing one shot. (Whew.)

Skydive tightens his jaw ever so slightly when he misses on shot. Missing isn't a big deal, but he's not a huge fan of it. This time he has to do better, eager to make at least third.

After the dust settles, Backfire is slow clapping again. "Well, guess we know who the LOSERS are." he smiles, hitting that button again. Suddenly Talia, Skydive, and Hubcap's platforms disappear beneath them.. only warm lava to welcome their feets!
"Heh, no.. I will not EMBARRASS you like I did with my performance in 2032." Backfire chuckles to the last three remaining contestants, referring to him being the final round target. "Nay, this year.. I searched FAR and WIDE for an appropriate final target that wouldn't rub your nose in being losers." Taking something out of subspace, Backfire holds out his close hand.
"Prepare yourselves for the FINAL ROUND!" he shouts into the mic, opening his palm.

Blast Off hits each of the three darting targets, then watches keenly for Skydive's results. His head lifts up with smug satisfaction as the Aerialbot misses- twice! Chuckling, he says, "Too bad. Better luck next time..." Of course, he doesn't sound at all like he thinks it's "too bad". But he does give the Aerialbot a courteous nod. He's not uncivilized, after all....
Now- for the business at hand. FINALLY- it appears he will win a medal... well, one WITHOUT a certain annoying hovercar's help. He nods to Contrail and sneers at Outrun. A Decepticon WILL win this- and it WILL be him! The Golden Snitch darts to and fro, and provides quite a difficult target. But he is the Combaticon sniper- he will not be outdone by THIS! He likes a challenge, anyway.

Frag, so close to making the finals. Skydive pressed mouth into a thin, unahppy line, though he doesn't get much angrier than that, instead sighing and maglocking pistol to his hip. The instant the platform disappears however he shifts to jet mode and rockets away from the lava, swinging around to catch Talia in his cockpit as well, depositing her on the shore after he shifts back mid air and lands. "Miss McKinley." He sounds as curteous as he can with a smile when letting her walk off his hand, eyeing the final contestants afterwards.

Hey, the space shuttle can't help it that sometimes he gets stuck on some planetary orbit with nothing else to do for long periods except watch movies... including, sometimes, fleshling movies. He does well- as so does Contrail. With satisfaction, he watches Outrun fall to third place. A Decepticon WILL be getting the Gold. As it should be. He can't help but cast a gloating glance over at Skydive, now a spectator. Suddenly Backfire launches at him. "Back off, Backfire, or I will shoot you- rules or no...." When Backfire comes at him anyway, the Combaticon shoots!

Outrun gets bronze, Contrail the silver, and Blast Off the gold. Now, can we please get back to the money you guys OWE me??"
A large spotlight shines down from above, a voice over a loudspeaker booms "NO." Pulling into view, it's an official 2034 Olympics commitee. "Backgire, you are hereby fined SEVENTEEN THOUSAND credits for the introduction of an invasive species into the natural Thrull environment." Shrugging, the Seeker asks "What species, praytell, did I introduce?"
"The SHRIKEBAT, fool."
Blast Off ducks as Contrail's shots go wild, first huffing in annoyance and exasperation... then blinking as he realizes what it means. The Combaticon stands amidst what's left of the competition... and realizes HE WON. FINALLY. "I won?" He looks just a little dazed and starstruck for a second, then remembers himself and falls back to the usual cool haughtiness. "Oh. Ha, well, pfft! Of COURSE I won!" He walks over to receive his medal, nodding to Contrail and just smirking inwardly as he looks at the Autobots. He can't wait to hold his Gold medal. HIS Gold medal. Wait until Onslaught sees THIS! He is in such a good mood he doesn't even bother to revel in Backfire's predicament. ...Life is good today.
Lamborghini Gallardo <Contrail> transforms to revel in her... Silver. "...ugh, what happened? I had a... mental break with reality or something, there. Oh, whatever, Blast Off beat the Autobots, the Empire prevails!"
In a transformation that is harder than it looks, Contrail rises up into robot mode.
