No-Armor is an Effect
Effect No-Armor
Name No-Armor
Status Available
Cost (CP) 2
Rare No

Attack ignores armor when dealing damage

Description[]

Any attack with No-Armor will automatically bypass the target's Armor stat entirely, doing full damage as if they had no armor at all. This will do noticeably enhanced damage against normally armor targets, but its real advantage lies in dealing full damage to highly-armored targets who would normally receive only minor damage.

For example, level 4 with No-Armor will cost the same Energon as a level 6, but will do a bit less damage versus average targets. However, against high-armor targets, the 4/no-armor will do an appreciable amount of additional damage.

It can be used on weapons that bypass armor as opposed to destroying it somehow such as: armor Piercing rounds, magnetic, or sonic attacks that affect the internal systems, or weapons that pierce through the armored exterior to the delicate bits within.

Strategy[]

No-armor is cool for weaponsmith'd weapons or for a linked-bin ammo attack (which you get at a discount), if you plan on fighting Grimlocks or gestalt leaders. Helpful in some situations but not every fight. Good for an interesting alternate attack or Weaponsmith item.

No-Armor will still do extra damage to low armor targets like cars and planes or to normally armoured targets like almost everything else, but not quite as much as if you spent those 2 CP on more damage ranks. Versus heavily-armored targets, however, the advantage is clear: you'll negate their high armor by ignoring it and dealing full damage directly! Think about how hard it is to kill a Dinobot, Sky Lynx, or Snapdragon because their massive armor absorbs all the damage. Instead they'll take more damage than your average painfully-naked car (they still have size-based damage reduction to melee, though).

Notes[]

At one point, there was a Pierce effect, which partially ignored Armor. Pierce just didn't do enough and was redundant with No-Armor, so Pierce was removed.
