Something of a misnomer. Not really that old, all things considered. Back in 2005 OOC, Shockwave made a whole bunch of random wings of various Decepticon fliers. They underwent a few iterations.
As of May 2, 2005 (OOC), both Fleet and Chimera were in Delta Wing. Delta Wing appears to have been dissolved with the restructuring on May 9, 2005 (OOC).

As of August 9, 2005 (OOC), Recoil was in Awesome Wing.
As of September 11, 2005 (OOC), Breakneck was placed in Gamma Wing.
Around October 18, 2005 (OOC), the then-Galvatron OOCly spoke about dissolving the wings.
As of February 7, 2006 (OOC), Gamma Wing was, at least, still mentioned in RP.
And that's about it, really. Beta Wing still gets a few mentions, but all of the Wings are defunct.
